Partner - Color (Vertical)Home Energy Audits and Ratings

ENERGY STAR qualified products and practices help you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE. The ENERGY STAR label also designates superior energy performance in homes and buildings.

According to the EPA Energy Star® program, the average American household spends $1,500 annually on energy bills - a number that may go up as much as 50% this year. Colorado Professional Inspections is a proud partner of ENERGY STAR. Colorado Professional Inspections proudly promotes ENERGY STAR.

Almost half of that energy goes to heating and cooling your home. Lighting and appliances represent about a quarter of those costs, and home electronic products like computers, service charges, TVs, and cell phone chargers take a significant and growing share of what's left.

Each of us can take action today to reduce energy use at home, while still staying comfortable.

"An Energy Audit from Colorado Professional Inspections is a review of your homes systems, taking an innovative whole-house approach to improving the comfort and energy efficiency of your home."

We will perform a top to bottom energy inspection and analysis of your home to help determine the cause of any problems you may be experiencing, help you gauge your home's energy efficiency and durability, and recommend clear steps you can take to reduce your energy bills. As part of the inspection, we will also make sure your gas appliances are venting properly.

Why is a Home Inspector your best option for an Energy audit?

As a home inspectors, we are experts in all areas of home construction and performance. We have the ability to put all the pieces of the home energy conservation puzzle together.  I am home inspector with 7 years experience inspecting all types of buildings and a graduate of the Kansas Building Science Institute Home Energy Rater Training and Certification Program.

Energy Audit Inspection areas include:

  • Heating system test and evaluation
  • Cooling system test and evaluation
  • Water Heating system inspection
  • Ducting system inspection
  • Insulation and Ventilation inspection
  • Door and Window evaluation
  • General Air-Sealing inspection (interior and exterior)
  • Appliance and Lighting efficiency evaluation

Following the inspection, we will recommend improvements as part of our report. These may include measures such as: air-sealing and duct-sealing, adding insulation, installation of energy-efficient lighting, and if needed, new HVAC equipment or windows. The best solution for most homes often includes a combination of several improvements.

Implementation of the suggested improvements will result in savings on your annual energy bill. And, many of the improvements will be simple items that could be performed yourself.

The Energy Audit can be conducted together with a standard home inspection, or as a stand-alone service.
